uMngeni Municipality Mayor, Mbali Myeni together with the chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) recently launched the YouthBuild project. The project will train 100 unemployed youth in the construction field. The youth were identified through a rigorous selection process from all the wards of uMngeni. Both uMngeni Municipality and NYDA contributed R2 million each into the implementation of the project. The project is imperative in that it addresses the skills shortage amongst the youth of uMngeni. In partnership with the uMgungundlovu TVET College as well, the youth will undergo academic training in skills training before they are placed in a project for a hands-on experience with a vetted and reputable contractor.
