MANDELA MARATHON A ROUNDING SUCCESS

 

uMngeni Municipality Mayor, Mbali Myeni, has applauded athletes who came out in their large numbers to participate in the 4th installment of the Nelson Mandela Day Marathon recently.
“The race was exciting and well attended. On behalf of uMngeni Municipality I would to commend all those who took part in this prestigious and growing marathon. My special commendations go out to the winners,” said Myeni.
The Mayor added that the marathon further solidified the status of former President Nelson Mandela, in that he was revered and loved throughout the word. The cherry on top, said Myeni, was that the marathon brought with economic spin-offs for uMngeni and the District.
District Municipal Manager Sibusiso Khuzwayo also declared the Mandela Day Marathon a massive success following an incident-free marathon.
“The Mandela Day Marathon Organising Team wishes to thank all athletes in all the sporting codes of the Mandela Day Marathon 2015,” said Khuzwayo.
More than 13000 athletes participated in the marathon.
