There are various activities within the locality that have the potential to be super spreaders of the virus. Such include the day to day operations of businesses such as general supermarkets, shops and taxi ranks where there is an inevitable interactions of larger groups of people.

That is why uMngeni Municipality led a Joint Compliance and Law Enforcement Operations programme w conducted in businesses around the Howick CBD, specifically in Harvard Street, with the main objectives to ensure that businesses are complying to the following regulatory requirements within their establishments;

• Business Licenses /Permits

• Signage

• Social distancing markers and adherence

• Number of customers inside

• Sanitizers at entrances and pay points

• Wearing of masks

• Overall hygiene

The Joint Operation was conducted in partnership with the SAPS, Edtea and uMgungundlovu District Municipality.
